I’m not ever going to hate the 90′s though.

I had lots of money and started getting laid regularly. And there were video games. Now I’m older, poorer, and I’m down to once a month.

Sorry, the 90′s ruled. ( That 70′s Show was painful, but you really shouldn’t watch most sitcoms anyway. It wasn’t any worse then Mork and Mindy, or Laverne and Shirley or…)

Most of the list can be claimed about modern times, ya know 10 years later. I agree that the stuff listed is most definitely hate worthy, but it is not exclusive to the 1990s.

This one I’d disagree with for a different reason. The guy who produced it was a devout Catholic and the idea was “Jesus went through all the same shit and piss we do as humans.” See Andrew Hudgins poem “Piss Christ.” The government funding is upsetting because it was an actual religious statement which shouldn’t be given government funds, particularly since it cost nothing to produce. The rest are spot on.

Initially, being genuinely interested in intellectual pursuits, being a nerd, meant that you worked a crappy job and spent all of your free time reading, coding, etc.

Today you get a six figure income and everything you read is turned into films with huge budgets.

Can true nerds be blamed?

When someone does the aughts they can mention how VH1 must die for resuscitating the careers of countless douchebags like Bret Michaels and allowing douchebags in their death throes to remain in the spotlight by reminiscing about how great the 80s and 90s were. The aughts are the greatest cultural wasteland in the history of humanity. Long past are the days of having anything authentic left to ape. Come to think of it, Ames bagging on Chomsky reminds me quite a bit of the liberals that he calls out for bagging on Michael Moore in that other recent article here. What’s the problem, exactly? He’s right, but not in quite the right way?

Yeah, well, I lived through the 90′s too, and was also aware of how badly THEY sucked at the time, and yet this article still exists.
