www.chron.com -- Two Houston-area pain clinics were shut down this week after investigators said some owners, as well as a longtime Houston doctor who worked there, were illegally distributing prescription drugs. Dr. Christina Clardy, who lives in a $2 million house in West University, has been charged with engaging in organized crime, accused of operating two business that catered to drug dealers and abusers and dealt only in cash. Four others have also been charged. Clardy was expected to surrender to authorities at the Harris County Jail. She could not be reached for comment about her work with either Uptown Medical Clinic at 7231 FM 1960 in Humble or Texas Medicine Direct, formerly S&G Clinic, at 9110 Jones Road in Houston.
