DJ Dave Seaman.
Friday, December 22. Club 13.

Did somebody say semen? Some folk have been waiting for this guy to come to Moscow since August, when he was denied a visa. This time, he's already made it past OVIR, but he still might get held up at the border for drug smuggling. Assuming he makes it, this Friday should be a good time at Club 13. Seamen is one of the biggest names at Renaissance, which has been throwing decent parties around the world for 15 years now. People who can tell the difference between house, progressive house and retro house will be in abun- dance. Expect lots of platform shoes and lots of other styles that wouldn't have made our "in" list in the Reich story. New Years Parties. Sunday, December 31. 24:00. They will all be shit. We haven't heard of a single fun party on New Gertsen Afetr Party

New Years Parties.
Sunday, December 31. 24:00.

They will all be shit. We haven't heard of a single fun party on New Years. The minimum cover around town is about 200 bucks, and all that will get you is a bottle of Smirnov and a forshet with last year's lunchmeats. Or, you could pay $400 and exchange the vodka for Sovietsky champagne. We will be sitting around a Soviet era TV set waiting for the annual Presidential speech, when Putin is scheduled to announce he has completed the final consolidation of all energy, financial and media assets into one giant KGB run conglomerate. To commemorate the occasion, all rehabilitations of the last 47 years will be reversed and Dzerzhinsky's statue will once again stand tall at Lubyanka Square. Anyone who goes to check out the first Chekist might want to stop by Kitaisky Lyotchk for their after party. It will be the only free event of the evening and the starting time (5 in the morning) should weed out the unworthy.

After party.
Saturday, December 23. 03:00. Gertsen.

We haven't been there yet, but they claim that they've got a sauna! The invitations are printed on chocolate bars, too. What else could you ask for? Maybe a Hare Krishna DJ who plays wacky chill out music... well, they'll have that too. In our mind the only thing that may redeem this party is that DJ Sanchez from Propaganda will be playing on one of the dance floors. Who knows, maybe they're on to something that we haven't figured out yet.

Sukachov Jubilee.
Friday, December 22. 19:00. Olympisky.

This guy is coming straight out of the old school Moscow perestroika rock-n-roll era. In the `80's he was in the group Brigada S, which was one of the few Soviet groups to get exported outside of the Eastern Block. He is a short, ugly guy with a hankering for worker's uniforms and caps who had trouble adjusting to life after the fall of the empire. He spent about three years in an alcoholic haze that destroyed his life and his band. But, just when folks figured his liver was washed up, he joined an all-star super band made up of many has beens from the heyday of Soviet rock and started touring again. The band lacked a name and a core constituency, but made up for it by rocking. This concert should feature walk ons from lots of big names from the old days, as well a possible one night reunion of Brigada S.

New Kid's Club!
Friday, December 22. 15:00. Lel (Prospect Mira, 112. Tel: 287-3114)

Introducing the eXile for Kids. This one promises to be 1000 square meters of fun. There'll be a labyrinth, clowns, nannies and much, much more for children of all ages. You can ditch your kids there for the whole day, while you run around doing adult things. Don't worry about qualified chaperons; Mark Ames is sure to be there, offering advice to any children who are feeling unsure about their sexuality in this age of insecurities. And after a few hours there, they'll come away with the knowledge that Santa was nothing more than a cruel trick you hoisted on them to keep them complacent.

North-South.
Thursday-Friday, January 4 - 5. 12:00 - 06:00.

Moscow House of Artists. We'll bet our life that anything billing itself as a psychedelic ethnic art festival is not going to have any hallucinogens readily available. Promoters are claiming that there will be trippy art, instillations and music from all around the world coming together in a big progressive festival of hippies. Really, there probably won't be much besides a couple drum banging white boys who can't even grow proper dreads. The first day is all about Africa and the second about the Northern Lights. But really both days will all be about cultural borrowing and how it rapes and mutilates anything remotely resembling an indigenous culture. In that, at least, we can appreciate this festival.

Peter Podgorogetsky.
Saturday, December 23. 23:00. Schwein.

Podgorogetsky, of Mashina Vremini fame, is giving a concert featuring pieces from his upcoming solo album. Rumor has it that he's trying to make the transition to a jazz musician. Other than that, we don't know anything, except that the only reason his made a recommendation is our sales guy Dima is dating Schwein's manager.
