Paparazzi peering through the windows of the north Miami Beach home of actor Gregory Hines were shocked to discover the “White Nights” star in delicto flagrante with Russian communist heavyweight Gennady Seleznyov.
Photographers snapped photos of the former Duma speaker as he appeared to bite the bare chest of the well-known tap-dancer and mediocre actor.
Security guards patrolling Hines’s property seized the journalists’ cameras before the pictures could be developed. Return visits later that week in defiance of restraining orders unfortunately failed to yield similar results.
A source close to Seleznyov revealed told Weekly World eXile earlier this week that Russia’s no. 2 communist has been “fascinated” by Hines since seeing the latter’s famous cameo appearance in History of the World, Part 1.
“Gennady feels that Gregory is one of the great geniuses of the late 20th century,” the source said. “He finds the combination of superlative tap-dancing and serviceable acting in non-leading roles thrilling.”
Two weeks after the incident at Hines’s home, the actor was seen holding hands and nuzzling with Seleznyov at an Academy Awards after-party thrown by old friend Billy Crystal.
A source close to Crystal who is familiar with the affair indicated that Seleznyov might be setting himself up for a big disappointment.
“Gennady has his heart set on something long-term, but all of Greg’s friends know that this is just another fling for him,” the source said. “Greg never holds on to anyone for long. He lives each day as though it’s the last, and his affections blow like the wind. When it stops being fun with Gennady, he’ll give him a hug and move on.”
Seleznyov’s friends maintain that the former Duma speaker’s great dream is to help revive Hines’s film career.
“Gena wants to see Gregory recapture the magic of films like The Cherokee Kid,” one friend said. “He knows the affair might not last forever. But he wants to give Gregory a reason to remember him fondly.”
