And HD DVD very nearly eclipsed Blu-ray (sorry to bring up bad memories) due to Sony's reluctance to allow adult entertainment publishers onto its format. Now, Android's 16,000 apps haven't scared Apple yet, but an alternative app store that's sprung up could see Apple's prudishness be its downfall.
