www.mercurynews.com -- 2:30 a.m.: Police move in Police in riot gear moved in to Justin Herman Plaza just after 2 a.m. Wednesday and began clearing out tents there. Campers on the scene said officers gave them about five minutes to clear out their belongings before the police action started. Protesters surrounded the area, especially near Stewart and Market and shouted and chanted as about 100 police moved into the area. Access for reporters and photographers to the camp itself has been blocked. There have been scuffles on the eastern edge of the camp near Market between police and protesters on the scene, with protesters throwing things, including a garbage can, at officers.
