An Unusual Murder
In an extremely interesting and unusual development last Friday, a young commercial director was shot and killed as he exited his home on Sherbakovskaya Ulitsa. According to Dorozhny Patrol magazine, one Nikolai Kazanin, director of the commercial firm "Alpha-Echo", came out of his podyezd at about 8 p.m. last Friday and turned to walk to a local department store. No sooner had he exited his podyezd, however, when an unidentified man walked up and surprised the pants out of everyone by shooting Kazanin at point blank range with a TT pistol.

When Kazanin fell to the ground, the assassin leaned over and shot Kazanin through the head. According to police, Kazanin's firm specialized in the sale of expensive wines, and also dealt in sugar and petroleum products. Investigators do not exclude the possibility that Kazanin's murder was in some way connected with his professional activities. The investigation is continuing.
An Unusual Murder
Moscow residents were left in a state of shock last Friday, after a young commercial director was shot and killed as he exited his home on Shvernika Ulitsa. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, one Alexei Movchan, director of the commercial firm "Ekoros-M", returned home to his apartment at about 10 p.m., following his usual habit of working late. When he approached his podyezd, an unidentified assailant appeared out of nowhere and shot him at point-blank range with a TT pistol.

Movchan died with the first shot; according to the paper, the killer "did not even approach and finish him off with a shot to the head, as is the usual custom." Police later said that "Ekoros-M" was a financial consultation business and had "few suspicious clients" among its clients. Nonetheless, they do not exclude the possibility that Movchan's murder was connected in some way or other with his professional activities. There are no suspects, but the investigation is continuing.
You won't believe this, but...
65 year-old Boris Bakhrov, director of the commercial firm "Stroiservislyuks", returned to his home on Ulitsa Plesheva last Tuesday and was just a few meters from his Podyezd when his car suddenly exploded. Bakhrov was not hurt, but his Volga was totaled. Police said some 200 grams of TNT had been placed under the seat of his car.

There are no suspects in the incident, but the investigation is continuing. Police do not exclude the possibility that one of Bakhrov's competitors intended to scare or "exert pressure" on the construction magnate, or that the attack was in some other way connected with his professional activities.
Commercial Director Savagely Attacked
In one of the most bizarre killings to take place in Moscow this year, 34 year-old Andrei Morozov, director of the commercial firm "RosExport", was shot and killed as he exited his podyezd on Ulitsa Volgina this past Sunday. According to police, Morozov was just minding his own business as he left his home to buy cigarettes at about 9 p.m. when he was unexpectedly approached by an unknown assailant, who shot him twice in the chest with a TT pistol.

The unusual part about this case is its apparent absence of motive. Police say that Morozov was not known as a criminal figure. Nonetheless, they do not exclude the possibility that his killing was connected with his professional activities. A full investigation has been ordered, but there are no suspects so far.
Death of a Korean Commercial Director
Last Wednesday wasn't a lucky day for Lee Pak, 38, a South Korean working in Moscow as the director of the commercial firm "Kotra". Pak was on his way home to his apartment on Ulitsa Ramenki at about 8 p.m. when two unidentified men pounced on him in his podyezd and stabbed him 16 times with hunting knives. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, the Korean import/export dealer was killed by the first blow; the additional fifteen swipes were decorative. When Pak was discovered the next morning, there were still gold jewels and an expensive Swiss watch on his body. The only thing missing from his person were a number of financial documents pertaining to his electronics import/export business. Police therefore speculate that the murder may have been connected with Pak's professional activities. A city-wide search has produced no suspects, but the investigation is continuing.

Hard as it is to believe, the news pages are no just bursting with lurid and unusual crime stories every week, and as a result, the eXile is sometimes forced to print humdrum everyday crimes to fill this space. Anyway, here goes...Moskovksy Komsomolets this week reported that last Friday, in the the Sbiblivo municipal region, a local polyclinic received a call for help from the director of a commercial firm on Ivovo Ulitsa. When medics arrived at the scene, they discovered that the director's brother had passed out drunk and had an irregular heartbeat. The ambulance workers tended to the drunk for about twenty minutes before he suddenly came to himself, jumped up, and ran down the streetÑtoward the ambulance! Before medics could overtake the guy, he jumped into the ambulance and drove off. Cops were called and a high-speed chase ensued, during which the drunk patient-turned-ambulance-thief crashed into a Zhiguli on Snezhnaya Ulitsa, causing the Zhiguli driver a severe skull-brain trauma. The culprit was eventually detained in the Bogorodskoye region, and faces charges of auto theft, drunken driving and vehicular assault.
