wilson

Quick question: why the fuck are Democrats boasting that they kept their mouths shut and their hands folded on their knees during every crazed speech Bush gave, unlike that bad ol’ Confederate Joe Wilson? Is that something the Dems should be proud of? If anything, Wilson’s outburst should make Democrats flush their own heads down the nearest toilet in shame for being such spineless pieces of shit right at the time that America needed an opposition most–a noisy, vicious, unpredictable opposition–to save the nation, us, and our grandchildren. Instead, they were polite, and they’re still proud of how polite they were. Do Democrats realize that by not having a tenth of Joe Wilson’s balls or the Tea Baggers’s fanaticism, that they enabled Bush to destroy the US military in two idiotic wars, and destroy the economy through plunder? What’s to be proud of? This is exactly why it’s so hard to be on the side of Democrats: they see what a real opposition looks like–ugly, frightening, unpredictable, breaking the rules– and they have this appalled Polite Society reaction, like a Southern Belle with white gloves on going, “Why I nevuh in all my life,” as if politics is a country club rather than a battlefield.

The right gets it–and Joe Wilson’s outburst reminded us yet again. I think deep down that’s what the liberals and Dems were so bothered by: they don’t like it when the rightwing reminds them that this isn’t a grammar school civics class. All across the liberal blogosphere, you see all this human plankton whingeing in unison, “Teacher! Joey made fun of Barack! Can you tell his mommie please? And can you put another star on our liberal foreheads please, because unlike Joey, we were always polite while Bush destroyed America! And pat us on the head too, like you did over the past 8 years. We like getting patted on the head like that.”

So while most liberals are collectively shaking their hollow liberal fists at the nerve of that Confederate goon Joe Wilson, let’s keep in mind the real lesson: some of us who remember what a bunch of spineless pieces of shit Democrats were when the country needed them most, when heckling and threatening our Dumbfuck-In-Chief could have made a difference, when the Dems could have taken a risk and possibly saved America from that hyperactive retard Bush and saved the country from ruin… Just one “Liar!” from a Congressman or Congresswoman during Bush’s 2003 pied-piper dance to get America to commit national suicide in Iraq. What were Dems so afraid of anyway? Hundreds of thousands of Americans are taking much bigger risks, dying and getting their legs blown off to supposedly protect America–and yet the Dems were and still are afraid of upsetting decorum? Why couldn’t the Dems yell out at Bush during his war speech something, anything, like, “Sit the fuck down, retard!” or “Someone call social services!” or just “You’re a LIAR!” like Wilson did. It would have given a badly-needed spine-transplant to millions of Americans who didn’t know how to stop Bush from ruining America… if only Dems would have taken that risk and led.

But instead, unlike that awful, terrible hillbilly Joe Wilson, the Dems sat politely in their seats, just as the rules say they should, while Bush convinced the country to drive the bus over the cliff. Because heckling Bush might have broken the rules, and god knows if there’s one thing today’s liberals fear, it’s when someone doesn’t adhere to grade school civics class rules.

This is what I mean when I say that the only true opposition in this country comes from the rightwing. It’s been this way for the past 25 years, and it’ll probably be this way for another 25.

Fucking liberals. No wonder they always institute a Terror after revolution.

they as in the Revolutionaries, not the liberals

They picture themselves as rational patriots, Platos in triconres. Always being reasonable and keeping the core values of the nation in mind, as they’re bulldozed by the sociopath serfs on the side of the new lords and ladies. Liberalism ladies and gentlemen!

    Totally unfair, Ames.

You forget that when they tried to kick Cindy Sheehan out of the 2006 State of the Union address for quietly wearing a shirt bemoaning the deaths of thousands of soldiers including her son, the Democrats immediately stood up in protest that the sergeant-at-arms would dare have the nerve to . . .

Oh, they didn’t do anything then? Never mind.

  • 6. Libertarian Fascist  |  September 10th, 2009 at 6:26 pm

Excellent article, Ames. Why shouldn’t this be more common? I wish a democrat had had the balls to scream at Bush.

  • 7. wengler  |  September 10th, 2009 at 6:41 pm

That Iraqi shoe throwing reporter had more balls than any Democrat in this country.

You will also have to remember that more than a few Democrats supported Bush to his last days in office. Retroactive immunity for telecoms didn’t exactly happen in 2003.

Thank you for writing this. For a puketastic example of pwoggie plankton, check this out:

“The ability to scream at a President while s/he is speaking to Congress is not a right granted by the rules of that body. The assumption that this long-standing rule could be broken is NOT DIVORCED from the fact that the President in question is African-American and the Representative in question has been a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans.”

Sen. Ted Kennedy is put on No Fly List.

Rep. Cynthia McKinney claims to be harassed on many occasions by capitol hill police. I would assume Capitol hill police are controlled by the executive branch.

My guess is you could find other examples.

    Get it.

Basically just the sad liberal brain clumping moral categories together that don’t belong. Hence that blog post, which goes from sensible (was he astro-turfing?) to childish and idiotic (long-standing rules!), willy-nilly. It all gunks up together, so people intuitively link politeness with political progress, in their train of “reason.” It’s kinda funny, if you like freak books. Of course the lib-blogger then also brings up pitiful University liberal themes, too, which are a fucking trainwreck of childish moralizing glossed over with pseudo-rationality.

We need to get away from the whole President as God paradigm anyhow. Republican or Democrat, they should be heckled, undermined, and constantly threatened with impeachment when they pimp these bullshit wars for the MIC. They’re not kings. A few months ago Obama was just one of the hacks in that same building, shaking down donors and diddling pages or whatever it is they do. Heckle Bush and heckle Obama. Fuck Obama, the guy’s a complete rip off and you know it. GO JOE GO!

The reason why democrats didnt heckle bush is because they are so busy trying to be safe and pleasing everyone. Bush wouldnt have accepted an apology that was probaly forced anyway. He would have kick ass first then took names thats how Bush rolls

  • 19. eric white  |  September 11th, 2009 at 9:08 pm

    Heckeled? Bah.

If the United States is a nation under the rule of law, then the law allows for the removal from office for crimes.

Why didn’t any of the Constitution-wavers like Ron Paul introduce impeachment documents? Why didn’t people in the Senate stand up and support the questioning of Flordia/the Supreme Court’s selection? Or for that matter on impeachment?

But the above is the 535 person question. Below is the 300 million person question.

Where were the citizens going to their county Grand Juries and asking for these ppl to be investigated for the suspected felony violations?

Heckling – bah. Use the law.

BECAUSE, AS NONE OF YOU SEEM TO HAVE DEDUCED USING LOGIC AND CRITICAL THINKING…BOTH PARTIES ARE ONE AND THE SAME AND THE CRAP THEY ARE DOING TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE OF DIFFERENT AGENDA’S AND IDEOLOGIES, IS, ON IT’S FACE, ABSURD ‘KABUKI THEATRE’ AT IT’S VERY FINEST, WITH THE END GOAL OF OBFUSCATION AND MAKING YOU TAKE YOUR EYE OFF THE REAL BALL, AND THAT IS, THAT BOTH PARTIES ARE ONE AND THE SAME AND BOTH OF THEM HELL BENT ON THE DESTRUCTION OF THE REPUBLIC FOR THEIR OWN UNBRIDLED, UNRELENTING GREED.

  • 21. laz  |  September 11th, 2009 at 11:32 pm

Yeah, the Taiwanese are cool, they knock the crap out of each other. At least it shows they have balls and really care about what they’re doing. Do you see the video of Pelosi when this happened? She had that ‘never in all my life’ look.

  • 22. Les Pisrael  |  September 12th, 2009 at 3:25 am

    To: Mark Ames
The reason the Demorats did nothing,is very easy explained. Blackmail! Bush regime could not had the time to organize and pull off the 911 attacks in 8 months in office.Clinton regime was behand the whole affair.now you know why Nancy Dancy Pelosi and Reid and Obama are not investigating.
Yes! Wilson has Big Balls, cause he knows both teams are dung bettles wolling in sh!t.
    FYI: Both are:^/

  • 23. Tom  |  September 12th, 2009 at 6:14 am

When you come down to it, practically EVERY member of Congress is there to take care of the rich and powerful, not the American public. Wilson’s outburst may have been a “false-flag” faux paus to harvest sympathy for Obama and hence, his health care reforms.

    Sound crazy?

Then explain why a guy like Wilson, who got thousands of dollars from pharmaceutical lobbies and stands to make more if Obama’s plan passes, would resort to calling Obama a liar in such a situation?

“Divide and conquer” is the rule of the game for the powerful in the USA and the American public has been suckered into this self-destructive mind-set long enough! Time tyo address the facts and not just party affiliation! The only party that matters in this nation currently is the War Party, and both parties certainly cater to this profitable enterpriae while Americans and the rest of the world have to pay the pricefor lie-based wars.

Stop the bickering- start the indictments!

  • 24. Karine  |  September 12th, 2009 at 8:56 am

America used to be the Land of the Pround and the Brave. It has turned into the land of Stupids and Nuts.
No wonder the rest of the world looks at us and laughs … I just joined them … don’t blab and spew your wisdom on these blogs, get off your arses and DO SOMETHING. These jerks at the helm get way with murder because they can! One thing for sure they cannot jail a whole nation if we would take this to the streets and get rid of these criminals …. Isnt’ it funny ? We have not heard Hope and Change as soon the Pope of Hope was inaugurated and he turned from an Anti War Lawyer to a War Lord …

  • 25. Antone  |  September 12th, 2009 at 9:23 am

Don’t forget the right-wing was even more quiet during Bush’s regime – probably because they couldn’t speak because their mouths were even more full of corporate cock.

  • 26. Ron  |  September 12th, 2009 at 10:09 am

This article is lame. This isn’t about Repubs or Dems speaking out and doing the right thing. Not a single solitary sole is seeking a righteous course in Iraq, Afgan, healthcare, etc. Its always the same old story from government and politicians. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8nGTaEntKA&feature=player_embedded
Ultimately man always destroys himself via power and greed. He is always his own undoing, his own worst enemy. Not a single politician walks with the knowledge of righteousness and none ever will. They are all dead men walking. And the masses follow right behind them blindly.

  • 27. rick  |  September 12th, 2009 at 4:10 pm

They were probably afraid of getting anthrax in the mail…

  • 28. Doug  |  September 12th, 2009 at 6:25 pm

Democrats weren’t “spineless” – they were active accomplices to the Bush regime’s crimes.

There is no significant difference between Democrats and Republicans. Both parties should be outlawed and their leadership exiled or executed.

  • 29. Lupo  |  September 12th, 2009 at 8:52 pm

You know, I love the Exile. Except when y’awl are mainlining your reality from the New York Times editorial section. How many seconds does it take Brother Lupo to find an example of dozens of Dummycrats heckling the chimp in chief? About 1/2 second on google:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBxmEGG71PM

Yes, the Dummycrats are pussies; that doesn’t mean they’re not rude pussies.

  • 30. Allen  |  September 12th, 2009 at 11:59 pm

The Democrats are a disgrace and have been for a long time. Their only ideology is getting elected — when they do get elected they put the car in neutral and idle or else make horizontal steps. Obama’s pathetic attempt at “healthcare reform” is about as bold as they get. They are a party designed by and for focus groups.

The Republicans on the other hand represent a revolutionary party. They have two gears — 1) plunder America in favor of the rich, or else 2) go to bat for the useful idiots in the base (aka promote evangelical militarist xenophobia).

I love the democrats’ passive aggressive bullshit about “moving past past partisan politics”. Talk about a hollow conversation amongst oneself. I dunno if their focus groups have told them this high road bullshit is eventually going to pay off in terms of the mythical “independent vote” or something, but it’s ridiculously stupid when it comes to the GOP. The reptiles aren’t interested in compromise, unity, civics, or any of that sad crap. The reptiles want to win their little culture war and get rich doing it — and that’s all.

  • 31. Doom  |  September 13th, 2009 at 7:11 am

Agree with 27. The “Democrats as spineless” meme keeps the delusion that the Democrats are good and moral and oh if only the Wizard gave them some courage.

  • 32. Odysseus  |  September 13th, 2009 at 1:46 pm

Uh, excuse me, but I’m a fucking tool who thinks that Democrats really did heckle Bush during his State of the Union speech in 2004. Sure, they didn’t yell out “you liar!” but they grumbled. And as far as I’m concerned, grumbling during a speech is the same as yelling out to the president “you liar!” Because I say so. Also, the fact that some Democrats secretly handed out tickets to the 2004 inaugural to Code Pink members so that they could disrupt his acceptance speech shows that they’re just like Joe Wilson, who rather than secretly handing out tickets to someone else who was brave, yelled it out himself at Obama. See, that’s the same thing to me–but again, I say that only because I’m a tool. If you’re going to cite history, it might be best to make it up as you go along the way I do.

  • 34. amanda  |  September 14th, 2009 at 10:52 am

It’s all fine and good to call the Democrats “spineless” for not lashing out like children when George W. was in office. But that’s not the case.

If you’re stating that Dems shouldn’t be proud for not lashing out, you’re implying that Reps should be proud of Joe Wilson’s actions.

What exactly did Joe Wilson accomplish?

To let the house know Republicans don’t trust Obama, and that they disagree with this plan? We already knew that.

It’s not spineless not to lash out during a presidential speech. It’s common sense. Doing something like that is not going to accomplish anything for your side. Yes, you’re speaking out, and some could call that “standing up for yourself,” but that kind of action will never, ever, EVER, produce more results than voicing your opinion through proper venues.

And really… why should Democrats be ashamed of not pulling a Wilson during George W’s term? a) it would have accomplished nothing (as Joe Wilson did) and b) it would have been completely disrespectful to our president (as Joe Wilson was).

Lashing out like a child isn’t bravery, and respecting someone you don’t like isn’t cowardice.

  • 35. amanda  |  September 14th, 2009 at 11:05 am

(And by the way, I am not speaking out only against Joe Wilson. Anyone who shoes disrespect to a president, be it Democrats hissing from the rafters or Republicans shouting from the rooftops, need to show respect towards the president while he is speaking. There are appropriate venues in which to “boo”, and while he is providing the nation with information is not one of them.)

  • 36. antiLeft  |  September 14th, 2009 at 4:40 pm

Because democrats are pussies. why else? Democrats seriously need to grow some balls and exercise their 2nd amendment rights.

Grow some balls Lib Dems jeeez….. Start taking assult rifles to town halls. Do for you, do it for America, do it for you kids and grand kids who might get affected because of Republican policies.

  • 37. Marquelot  |  September 14th, 2009 at 5:58 pm

How about that Iraqi who “shoed” disrespect to Bush? I’m actually jealous of that guy, although I think I could have hit him (Bush). That guy is getting out of prison as a hero, with local women offering to marry him and his employer building him a new home. And the Dems were too gutless to even fulfill their role as an opposition party.

I hate politicians; they’re just a bunch of liars; I recently lost my home; I cannot afford health care insurance; I have a chronic condition; I think I’ll go to the emergency room again to get treatment; now I’m declaring bankruptcy; I just feel like we have to sit back and let Capitalism work and surely my faith will be rewarded; the government shouldn’t run healthcare; I just feel like socialism and liberals caused all my problems … though these ominous forces never actually seem to ever do anything in America; I just think they shouldn’t start, because they are the source of my problems.

    Tea-bag the faith.

Nice try but don’t they have a lock on the good cop (D)
vs. bad cop (R) Too late to get all in your face now.
    Bless Joe.

I work at a college campus and today the Marines were on campus doing some P.R.
I asked the guy very matter of fact if he had picked up any bullet sponges today.
He replied “what did you say” ?
And I just repeated the question in the same tone
and he said no he had not.
The guy walking next to me acted like I had said something offensive to the Marine.
I replied that in this late the hour with the reams of documentation that would support the outright fraud
of this war on terror. Everyone needs to know what’s up and stop pretending to go along with it.
